CHARTER OAK HABANO REVIEW – CALIFORNIA

Summary:  The foot of this cigar can't decide whether it wants to be closed or not.  Starting out, cream and pepper bring a tasty balance of powers.  Pizza crust (not the kind you leave on your plate, but the kind you eat before the rest of the pizza).  In slightly more grounded news, caffe latte notes round out this third.

Entering the second, I've made a few picky touchups, but the ash is holding steady.  No changes to note.

Final third.  More caffe than latte now.  Although the complexity didn't knock either of my socks off, this cigar was like that local, family-owned diner you can always rely on to deliver some delicious biscuits and gravy.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Breakfasts of champions.

Pairing Suggestion:  Coffee.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  Fiver.

CHARTER OAK HABANO REVIEW – WISCONSIN

Summary:  The closed foot leads into this cigar with oaky and peppery notes, which continue throughout. Moving into the cigar itself, it adds creaminess, leather, brown sugar, cedar, pretzel, and umami. There's an oakiness and a cedar that work together like a yin & yang of wood flavors.

The draw was spot-on, and the burn gave no issues at all. It doesn't hold ash well, but that's not a strike against it; just worth knowing before you drop any on your pants.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Balancing your wood.

Pairing Suggestion:  Bourbon.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  Fiver.

CHARTER OAK HABANO REVIEW – OREGON

Summary:  This firmly packed cigar has a partially closed foot and a cold draw that tastes like chalky cocoa.

Starting off with a very mineral laden mild tobacco flavor with dry grass. There’s also a tunnel starting within the 1st inch of the cigar. Some wood and leather notes join in with the tobacco flavors, but the overall profile has a relatively salty flavor to it.

The middle of the cigar is relatively plain.  Wood and tobacco notes with an overall bitter flavor...guessing due to the tunnel I’m still not past.

End portion of the cigar continues to underperform.  The flavors are bland and undefined.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Speaking to your doctor about your new meds.

Pairing Suggestion:  Anything without too much strength.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  Single.

Participants in this blind review were completely unaware of the cigar they were evaluating until all submissions were received and processed. Each participant was asked to answer a summary paragraph, an if/than statement, a pairing suggestion, and a purchase suggestion. Cigars were provided by Small Batch with only the expectations of candid responses. All pictures, information, and formatting were completed by a Coordinator outside of the reviewing process.
