FOUR KICKS CAPA ESPECIAL REVIEW – CALIFORNIA

Summary:  The cold draw makes me think of pine needle mulch.  Lighting up, I get an awesome mix of dark chocolate and a nutty sweetness.  Cornflakes and cream bring me to the end of this segment, ash intact.

In the second third, semi-sweet nougat keeps things optimally balanced.  There's a slight saltiness complimenting the sweet as this beauty continues to burn without a touch up.

Final third.  A warm, musky sweetness... is this cantaloupe I'm tasting, or am I just thinking orange because it's October?  Toast and baking spices at the finish.  I'd smoke two of these back to back without blinking.

Pairing Suggestion:  Stout.

FOUR KICKS CAPA ESPECIAL REVIEW – WISCONSIN

Summary:  This cigar brought notes of oak, earth, spice, toffee, chocolate, cream, and black pepper. At times it reminded me of a cookies & cream ice cream... but with spice added to it. The aroma from the cigar was very nutty.

The draw and burn both gave me no issues at all.

I found this to be a well-made cigar with an interesting and delightful flavor profile.

Cigar Review: Crowned Heads Four Kicks Capa Especial

FOUR KICKS CAPA ESPECIAL REVIEW – OREGON

Summary:  This week’s cigar is a nice Robusto sized smoke that is feathery in the hand... less filling.  Hopefully it tastes great.  If you get that reference, you may be old.

Starting off very nicely amid voluminous smoke laden with roasted almond, some grilled pork flavor, a sprinkling of floral notes and just a hint of spiciness on the palate.  Let’s talk retro hale smoke.  Mild wood notes with a ton of leather mixed in.  I’m also tasting that floral note and a decent pepper blast at the end.

Middle section and we have a perfect wood and floral mixture medium in body.  There’s just a hint of mineral flavor as well but it’s not messing with the profile at all.  Retrohale smoke is a smooth mixture of roasted nuts, wood, leather and floral notes with an overall creaminess.

Ending with yet more changes to the mix.  It has a solid combination of wood and roasted nuts and a quick finish of wasabi style heat.  There’s still a little salty mineral note but it’s not making me wish this cigar was finished.  The retro hale is still super smooth, carrying all the main flavors along with a nice leather finish.  A+ construction on this one too.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Finding a new cigar for your rotation.

Pairing Suggestion:  Two fingers of rye.
