Discussion Contest: Cigars in the Spring

Discussion Contest: Cigars in the Spring

Happy Monday, folks!

For the first time in a long time, I’ll be stateside for the spring!  And since it’s right around the corner, I’m doubly curious what you’ve been waiting to fire up in your humidor during an extra chilly winter.

What are YOU excited to smoke as we thaw out from the winter?

Log in and comment for a chance to win a Small Batch gift card this Sunday!

Myself, I’m particularly curious about new cigars that I’ve not been able to smoke while I was away. Cigars that I felt quite good about while making the purchase but have never been tested by the Court of Ash.

Daughters of the Wind ponies at Small Batch Cigar

I snapped up the Daughters of the Wind ponies as soon as I saw them available on the site, and they might be the one box I’m looking forward to working through the most in this category. Bespoke has treated me exceptionally well in the last few months, and I have extremely high hopes for these ponies since the other DotW reboots I’ve tried hit all the right notes.

I’m also extremely pumped to try JRE’s Aladino Reserva.  Diving into the family ties of that brand really gave me an itch to smoke JRE that I’ve been waiting for good weather to scratch.  As odd as it sounds, I’ve yet to try Aladino even though they continue to receive high praise from the community in recent years.

JRE Aladino Reserva at Small Batch Cigar

In the cigars I’ve already become acquainted with category, I’m not-so-patiently-waiting to smoke another Aganorsa Leaf Signature Selection.  Tomorrow might just be the day now that I’m home, and I can’t think of a better cigar to pair with a High West Double Rye old-fashioned.

And in the Unicorn category, an amazing friend sent a Warped La Colmena Unico Especial a little while back that is begging for my undivided attention in the spring.  He’s one of the most generous folks I know with his time and cigars and I can’t wait to thank him again with after it’s gone.

CONTEST DETAILS

One of the comments below will win a $25 gift card.  The gift card will automatically be sent to the email address that you login to comment with, so please use your regular sign-in.

Excited to finally fire up a Saka Unicorn, and to try lots of cigars that have been building up over the winter. I was talking to a friend the other day about how many times during the winter you ask someone about a cigar and they say, 'oh, I have one! But I haven't smoked it yet." I'm looking forward to burning through the whole list.

While winter didn't stop me from trying new cigars there are definetely those that I've been saving. Cigars that I wanted to explore fully
Read about the company, find other reviews, pour a nice drink and really get to know them. On a first name basis.
The Balmoral brand sampler has been calling my name since I ordered it. Bands are eye catching yet classy. Reviews seem on point and up my alley. From the Anejo to the XO I have been looking forward to those cigars
Balmoral combined with some of the $50 SmallBatch COTM cigars I've been sitting on has me all sorts of excited for nicer weather. LFD and Davidoff are in my immediate future

I’m excited by Roma Craft’s Don Bosco coming out in late April and exclusive to my local B&M.

Just like Rich, I plan on lighting up a Saka Unicorn. I know that if I don’t smoke it soon, I probably never will!

I’m looking forward to try two Opus X’s I recieved this winter as a gift. I’ve never had an Opus (because I couldn’t bring myself to buy one) so I want to make sure I have a perfect evening to light one up.

I didn’t entirely avoid cigars in the depths of winter, but the return of warmer temperatures will offer the opportunity to thoroughly enjoy the ritual of smoking without the need for encumbering gloves or a heavy coat. It will also be a wonderful change of pace to try some of the larger vitolas of blends such as Sin Compromiso and the Tabernacle Havana Seed CT #142 without worrying about my stamina to sit outside for a couple of hours.

I have a couple moon garden's that I have been patiently waiting to enjoy.
3/21/2019 11:45 AM
I am looking forward to lighting up my recently acquired Don Reynaldo Coronas De Luxe by Warped, courtesy of Small Batch Cigar. Also digging into my HVC First selection Broadleaf sticks occupying my humidor.

I'm simply looking forward to enjoying my usual favorites. LFD and Padron's in particular.
Can't wait to be able to relax outside in the sunshine with some nice whiskey and music going.

I second the Roma Craft Don Bosco in April.  That and a LFD Unico Salomon I've been sitting on all winter.
