MY FATHER FONSECA REVIEW – CALIFORNIA

Summary:  I love the toothiness on this wrapper.  Starting out with pine needles, cloves, and red/black pepper.  Chai tea.

Along with the spices in the second third is a sweetness that makes me think of those fermented peach jars that Stanley Yelnats finds in the movie Holes.

Final third.  Peach, red pepper, and pecans.  Solid smoke.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Sweet onions.

Pairing Suggestion:  Rum.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  Fiver.

MY FATHER FONSECA REVIEW – WISCONSIN

Summary:  This cigar starts with big woody flavors, alongside nuts and cocoa. A bit of mineral and lemon work their way into the profile. It kept the woody core and got creamier, then took a big turn and lost the creaminess and got quite dry.

The draw was on the looser side. The burn was spot-on.

Overall, when the flavors were hitting just right it was quite a good cigar. For most of the length of this particular stick, the flavors weren't hitting just right.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Ugly Christmas sweaters worn unironically.

Pairing Suggestion:  Brandy Old Fashioned

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  Single.

MY FATHER FONSECA REVIEW – OREGON

Summary:  This stick has a nice sweetness on the cold draw.  The resistance is on the loose side.  Starting out with some nice wood notes joined by mild coffee, hints of rye bread, and a lingering finish of nutmeg and walnut.  Pretty decent start for sure. In the sinuses there’s a bit more bite to the mix, featuring lots of leather and walnut coated in black pepper.

Middle filled with more baking spices, more walnut, some cream and coffee and a note I’ll call fresh cut wood.  It has a little edge to it...but not bad.  Very smooth retro hale on this stick as well.

Finishing off with a handful of walnut flavors, black tea, warm baking spice notes and oaky wood.  There’s a smooth creaminess to the retro hale and just a hint of pepper spice in the finish.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  A good ball game under the lights on a Friday.

Pairing Suggestion:  Lager.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  5-pk.
