4 Resolutions Every Cigar Enthusiast Should Make

4 Resolutions Every Cigar Enthusiast Should Make

4.)  Introduce Someone New to the World of Cigars

2018 Resolutions for Cigar Smokers: Introduce someone new to the hobby

A very small percentage of the world’s population understands and appreciates the comfort that a cigar can bring.  As we close one year and begin another, let’s vow to introduce one more person to the hobby that reduces stress and brings people together.

With governments everywhere raising taxes on cigars, banning smoking in public places, and raising the smoking age, it’s up to us to be good stewards of our hobby passing on our knowledge to the next generation of cigar enthusiasts.

And who knows… the person you introduce to cigars in 2018 may turn out to be the next Nicholas Melillo, Fred Rewey, or James Brown!

3.)  Reach Out and Thank Someone

2018 Resolutions for Cigar Smokers: Reach out and thanks someone

Did you know that the average cigar involves hundreds of hands before arriving in the mailbox to your local shop or home? The process of crafting a cigar from seed to shelf is incredibly complicated and involves lots of thankless positions.

It may be impossible for us to thank the men and women that carry a water hose with holes in it across a field to irrigate the crops, but we can still reach out to brand owners, cigar reps, and even master blenders. Between Facebook, Instagram, and Google, you’d be surprised with how many people you can send a personalized message to with just a few minutes of effort.

2.)  Try Something that You Otherwise Wouldn’t

2018 Resolutions for Cigar Smokers: Try something you otherwise wouldn't

If there’s one piece of advise that transcends experience level, it’s this: go out of your way to try something new with an open mind.  This could be trying a new brand, a size that you’re not particularly into, a new lounge, or maybe something from the past that you’ve not considered in years.

Palates, blends, and preferences change over time.  By trying new things, we either validate our likes and dislikes or find a new avenue of enjoyment and double down on the possibilities.

1.) Celebrate the Small Things

2018 Resolutions for Cigar Smokers: Celebrate the small things

In 2018, we invite you to find more reasons to celebrate!  There are few things better in life than celebrating with a cigar, and that means we should do it more often.  There’s even reasonable data to show that we’ll enjoy our cigars more in commemorative context.

Whether it’s taking time to appreciate the smaller moments in life or finding more reasons to light those celebratory cigars on the top shelf, we owe it to ourselves to take advantage of quiet moments with a nice cigar.

My New Years resolution is to bring others into the realm of cigars. It has become one of my most enjoyable hobbies sharing and experiencing new cigars with others. Of course a cigar had alone is an enjoyable relaxing time but it is better enjoyed with others and expanding new friendships.
1/5/2018 4:59 PM
My cigar resolution would have to be to start enjoying a cigar more often no matter my whereabouts or the weather outside. I find myself to be less tolerable when I go a couple weeks without one.

Only Four? 1) I will no longer eliminate people who see my face on a op. 2) I will no longer take ops during which people are likely to see my face. 3) I will no longer call the Ambassador to get me out of trouble when I get caught out on an op. 4) Finally, I will no longer set one acronym against another just so I can get all the players out of the theatre beforehand unless I myself am running the op.  Oh, yeah: no more cigars less than great, and none more than $11.98 (unless, of course, I have to (e.g.) swipe them from the duty-free at CDG.on short notice to fill a cut-out.
