United Bandolero Serie T Review

Summary:  There’s some dark filler tobacco making the foot of this cigar look like a yin and yang symbol.  Oatmeal, brown sugar, and coffee.  The coffee surges to the forefront, bringing a perfect balance between bitterness and flavor.

Halfway down and the coffee note feels like it’s sat on the counter for a bit, but I’ll drink coffee just about any way.  Vegetal sweetness with funk pops up here and there (carrots and papaya?).  Weird, but I’m okay with it.  A more traditional leather and char-grilled meatiness close things out.  With a range from bland to unusual, I’d smoke more.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: Rhubarb pie.

Pairing Suggestion: Coffee.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: 5-pack.

United Bandolero 2021 Review

Summary: This cigar brought an array of dessert-like flavors: sugar cookie, cocoa, butterscotch, and cream. These were joined with some less dessert-like flavors: earth, pepper, and cereal grain. If you're thinking, "that sounds like an interesting and tasty cigar profile", you're right. It was.

On the construction side of things, the cigar didn't give me any problems at all. The draw was great and the burn didn't need any attention to stay sharp. It was a well-made cigar.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: Dessert

Pairing Suggestion: Coffee.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Box.

Blind Cigar Reviews at Small Batch Cigar

Summary: This week’s cigar has a smooth, oily wrapper with a gorgeous sheen to it.  It’s firmly packed and offers flavors of rye bread and green apple on the cold draw.

Starting off with a nice combo of mixed nuts, leather, mild oak, and sourdough bread.  The retro hale mimics those kettle style chips that are salt and pepper flavor. Interesting for sure.  There’s a little green apple in that retro hale profile as well.

Working into the middle section we have stronger wood notes and a slightly floral finish with some really smooth leather and baking spice notes as well.  Construction and smoke production have been A+ thus far.  The retro hale smoke is smooth and almost a salty-sweet mix of wood and baking spice along with a mild hickory flavor in the finish.

The end of this cigar is really humming.  Warm, smooth notes of wood and leather, all washed with a long finish of nearly sweet baking spices and bread notes.  It’s easily been the smoothest portion of this cigar.  Aces all around for construction and performance.  The first couple sections of this cigar were good but reached into that polarizing region for me as far as profiles go.  However, I’m sure plenty of folks will really enjoy this one.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: Cigars with steady performance and mild transitions in the profile.

Pairing Suggestion: Tequila Shots.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: 5-pack.

Participants in this blind review were completely unaware of the cigar they were evaluating until all submissions were received and processed. Each participant was asked to answer a summary paragraph, an if/than statement, a pairing suggestion, and a purchase suggestion. Cigars were provided by Small Batch with only the expectations of candid responses. All pictures, information, and formatting were completed by a Coordinator outside of the reviewing process.
