Nomad Fin de Los Mundos Review

Nomad Fin de Los Mundos Review - California

Summary: Dark brown wrapper with even darker freckles scattered here and there.  Perfect draw. From the get-go, I’m getting cream and red pepper. Caramel breaks through, turning this smoke into a spicy/semi-sweet chocolate bar; I’m in heaven.  The ash and burn are like Air Bud: Golden.  Warm spices are making horchata out of the aforementioned cream notes.  If anyone hangs out with any of the guys in Foreigner, tell them that I’ve found the love they were so interested in knowing.

Starting the second third with a hint of mint, which reminds me of the chocolates you get after eating at Olive Garden.  If you have an upcoming cigar photo-shoot that you’re planning for, first of all, why are you doing a cigar photo-shoot?  If you have a legitimate reason (like you’re an Instagram cigar babe or something), then use this cigar.  The ash is holding phenomenally.  I don’t know of any dish that so perfectly meshes the flavors of cracked black pepper and sweetness.

Entering the final third and I have to guess: The Wise Man Maduro? It was one of my top cigars of 2017 and this cigar, whatever it is, would also receive high marks in my book.  Peppery-caramel-chocolate beaut through and through.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: Turning your stereo to 11 when a Zeppelin song comes on the radio.

Pairing Suggestion: Chocolate stout.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Box worthy.

Nomad Fin de Los Mundos

Nomad Fin de Los Mundos Review - Oregon

Summary: With a dark brown wrapper and a medium amount of tooth, this cigar is giving off a ton of barnyard scent from the wrapper.  It appears to be about 6x50ish in size.  Coffee and cocoa are present at the foot while allowing just a hint of sweet tobacco as well.  The wrapper leaf on this stick is free of any oiliness, looks expertly rolled and has a neatly applied cap.  So far...everything you’d expect from a quality hand-rolled cigar.  Have you ever chewed Red Man tobacco?  That is what the cold draw reminds me of.  The way Red Man smelled in the pouch, just a hint at sweetness.

Lighter lit, foot toasted and things are unfortunately starting a bit rough for me. Heavy tobacco notes mixed with black pepper are the steady duo but there’s a salty mineral note joining that I can do without.  Further into the first part of the cigar, a mild citrus flavor appears combining with espresso and tobacco.  The cigar features a nice straight burn, light gray ash and is producing what I would call a moderate amount of smoke.  The first section of the cigar also required a complete relight as it went out on me.

One I get heat moving through the cigar again, the mineral note has disappeared, but som has some of the nuances to the profile. It seems a bit flat as it only provides small amounts of cocoa, tobacco, espresso and black pepper, all interwoven together in meager amounts.

With the first half of the cigar becoming a pile fo ash, I am finally picking up some different notes in the profile and the cigar is growing on me a little more. Charred cedar  tows along a bolder cocoa note and the tobacco flavors have backed far off into the distance.  Retrohaling the smoke provides a nice creamy cedar  surrounded by subtle suggestions of white pepper.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: If you like this you probably like hanging out downwind around the campfire.

Pairing Suggestion: I would pair this with a sweet bourbon or rum.  The profile had shiny moments, but could use a quality beverage for assistance.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Single stick purchase.

Nomad Fin de Los Mundos Review - Wisconsin

Summary: This cigar had 4 caps. You can't mess up cutting it - even if you went all Lorena Bobbitt on the cut, it wouldn't unravel.

Does that Bobbitt talk have you thinking about phalluses too much? Okay, let's change the subject - know what this cigar had in abundance? Wood! I tasted 3 distinct flavors of wood: oak, hickory, and cedar were all present at different times.

The smoke also brought a nice balance of flavors, with bread, spice, leather, campfire, espresso, pepper, lots of walnut, Cocoa Krispies, and earthiness near the end.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: If you're all about the wood & nuts, grab this one!

Pairing Suggestion: A beer in the amber range.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Grab a five-pack.
