Amendola Cigar Family Cannoli Connecticut Review

AMENDOLA CANNOLI CONNECTICUT REVIEW – CALIFORNIA

Summary: The cap pops off with very little effort.  Hay, Virginia pipe tobacco, and green pepper on the retro.  Touching up the burn, I'm getting something like a pipe smoking mouthfeel that weirds me out due to it coming from a cigar.

Bitter nuts show up in the second half (definitely not your mom’s Connecticut). Speaking of moms, unexpected umami breathes life into the final third.  The appearance scored an A, but the smoking experience filled out the remainder of the alphabet.

Pairing Suggestion: Milkshake.

AMENDOLA CANNOLI CONNECTICUT REVIEW – WISCONSIN

Summary: This cigar was a mess. It had a wide open draw and wouldn’t stay lit no matter what I did. When it did burn, it burned unevenly. I got notes of hay, grass, and pepper before it turned into a bomb of bitterness from all the issues.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: Your lighter.

Pairing Suggestion: A cigar that will combust in case this one doesn’t.

AMENDOLA CANNOLI CONNECTICUT REVIEW – OREGON

Summary:  This cigar is light in the hand.  It’s also wrapped with a very light brown leaf.  I smell a conspiracy theory.  Hay, graham, leather, and honey on the cold draw.  Ok, it has my attention.

Putting some heat to the foot and a nice combo of hay and graham hits my palate but is overshadowed by a lemon note. The draw is a bit tighter than I prefer.  Also tasting almond and leather in the mix.

Middle section…getting some bitter notes?  Knock the ash of to find a small tunnel.  Bummer.  A tunnel and a tight draw.  No explanation.  It’s a nutty mix of wood, hay, and lemon. Basically, like the first third but with the added bitterness.

Final section continues to be bitter and adds in refusal to stay lit.

If You Like That, You Might Like This: Holiday puzzles with missing pieces.

Pairing Suggestion: Black tea.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Single.

Participants in this blind review were completely unaware of the cigar they were evaluating until all submissions were received and processed. Each participant was asked to answer a summary paragraph, an if/than statement, a pairing suggestion, and a purchase suggestion. Cigars were provided by Small Batch with only the expectations of candid responses. All pictures, information, and formatting were completed by a Coordinator outside of the reviewing process.
