Discussion Contest: Father’s Day Cigars

Discussion Contest: Father’s Day Cigars

Happy Monday, folks!

Yesterday was Father’s Day, and I’m itchin' to know how you celebrated the day!

Which cigar did you smoke for Father’s Day?  Who did you enjoy it with?

Login and comment below for a chance to win a Small Batch gift card this weekend!

I’m equally curious to hear everyone’s answers and not just the Dads out there.   Sons, daughters, husbands, wives, etc – how did you celebrate Father’s day and who did you celebrate it with?

Myself, I enjoyed a Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Sin Compromiso in the morning and a Viaje Hamaki in the afternoon with friends and coworkers.  Oddly enough, I was the only Dad in the group!  But we enjoyed ourselves nonetheless, and the good times rolled on in.

Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Sin Compromiso

I knew what I was expecting with Sin Compromiso, but the Hamaki really surprised me.  I got a lot of interesting notes from it akin to cherry cough drops that was infinitely more appealing that it sounds on paper.  In fact, it was so satisfying that I’m sad to see they’re all gone now.  Hashtag winning.

Also, someone walked by and knew what the characters on the Hamaki band meant in Japanese and Chinese.  Neat!  I never realized that both languages used a lot of the same characters but with different pronunciations and meanings.

Tell Us!  What did you do for Father’s Day?

Grilled up some wings and enjoyed a Partagas Short with a mojito. Fired up a Opus X Robusto later that had 5 years of age on it. Not going to lie, it lost quite a bit of flavor. Pretty boring smoke.

The only chance I had to smoke yesterday was when I mowed. So I grabbed a Pan Caliente. Something delicious and affordable.

Coffee.  Church.  Did some used car shopping with my daughter (Sunday's the best, no salesmen).  The wife cooked up her specialty - homemade pizza - while I got schooled by my son on the basketball court.  Finished with a quiet evening on the patio with a Tatuaje Tattoo and several bottles of Anchor Steam.  What a day!

Unfortunately my father and I do not live in the same state, so some holidays have to be spent with nothing more than a nice phone conversation... Still, taking the time to do that, catching up and sharing stories is very important to me.
I also smoked a Florida Sun Grown in honor of (Sun-day) get it? God i'm the worst.

Had a great all day hike.  Hot and humid but so nice to be out in nature sweating and breathing hard.  Late afternoon at home relaxing, lit up a Davidoff (a freebie from SBC) with lotsa ice water to rehydrate while enjoying the Honolulu sunset.  Oh, I did get a call from both my daughters (on the east coast) wishing me a happy father's day - why yes I was very happy!
