ALADINO SUMATRA REVIEW – DOM

Summary: The triple cap is a bit sloppy, but wearing your hat sideways used to be in vogue I guess.  After a cut, the pre-light puff tastes like salty applesauce.  Captivating me instantly, pepper and a musky note give this cigar an old taste (in a good way).   Jasmine and cinnamon combine forces with a cream sweetness to kick this cigar into amazeballs territory—no cap.  The sweet cream note tastes like steamed milk for you cappuccino connoisseurs out there.

Nearing the halfway mark, both the baking and pepper spice become more prevalent.  While the burn hasn’t been great, it’s nowhere near bad enough to capsize my enjoyment boat.  Virginia pipe tobacco and breadiness at the close make this cigar a winner from beginning to end without a capricious bone in its body.  I don’t think you’ll need a drink with this one.  Let it sing a cappella.

ALADINO SUMATRA REVIEW – RICH

Summary: The draw on this cigar was wide open, so it started with flavors of earth, black pepper, leather, espresso, and pecan, but ended up tasting a lot like a cigarette after a while. The draw was a real problem and pretty well ruined the smoking experience.

ALADINO SUMATRA REVIEW – BEN

Summary: First few puffs made my mouth dry. Straight tobacco taste for almost half of the first third then in comes baking spice; it's a tad sweet and a little peppery of the white variety. I chuckled because the next puff or two reminded me of generic wheat bread, toasted. The end gives me a little leather and heat on the retro. That's usually my cue to move on. Multiple relights and some unravelling.

ALADINO SUMATRA REVIEW – TED

Summary: The first part of this cigar featured a mix of wood notes, baking spices, florals notes and a soft leather flavor that carried some bitterness.  There was a very mild pepper spice in the profile as well.  The draw was tighter than I like it.  I believe the wispy smoke and muted flavors were a product of the draw.

Halfway through I was still experiencing a slightly bitter profile mix of wood, leather and floral flavors. If anything, the complexity dropped off in the middle section.

Towards the end, the cigar had better smoke production but the bitterness remained present in the wood, leather and coffee notes.

Participants in this blind review were completely unaware of the cigar they were evaluating until all submissions were received and processed. Each participant was asked to answer a summary paragraph, an if/than statement, a pairing suggestion, and a purchase suggestion. Cigars were provided by Small Batch with only the expectations of candid responses. All pictures, information, and formatting were completed by a Coordinator outside of the reviewing process.
