Happy Tuesday, folks!
A couple weeks ago, I was in CT visiting Nicholas Melillo to shoot some video. I was curious to know the last time he smoked an Upsetters cigar, an infused line from Foundation Cigar Co.
Since he said that he last smoked one a couple weeks ago, it made me realize that I haven’t really compared it against other infused lines since the initial release. I can’t even remember what ACID cigars are like, although I smoked several of them twelve or thirteen years ago.
When is the last time you smoked an Infused cigar?

- If you’ve smoked an infused cigar recently, how does it compare to the other infused cigars on the market today?
- If it’s been years since you’ve last set fire to an infused cigar, was it something that you started with along your cigar journey? Would you recommend it to folks starting out today?
- Do you know anyone that enjoys infused cigars?
- Did you participate in the ACID Challenge a few months ago?
After travelling so much, I finally came down with the ‘itus this past weekend and decided it was time to scratch the itch on infused cigars after so long. Especially after Nate included a whole infused sampler as part of their Power Pack from Foundation HQ! I figured that even though I wouldn’t be able to taste the fine nuances of most cigars, I’d still be able to taste an infused product.
So, I went to the porch and fired up an Upsetters Django, a 5 x 54 infused smoke. The initial moments were just like it smelled, an infused bouquet of flavors that tasted like a combination of herbal tea and botanicals.
I wasn’t prepared, however, to experience the lingering spice on my tongue thereafter. Every puff was a wave of sweetness in the first inch that was washed away with a heavy dose of ginger-like spice.
After the first inch passed, the cigar became less and less of an infused cigar to my tastes and more of a natural product. It never truly lost the infusion, but by the end it was inhibited quite a bit.
I know that this topic is a bit taboo amongst serious cigar enthusiasts, but I’d love to hear your thoughts!

A few weeks ago though, I was gifted a Fat Bottom Betty from a friend at my club - and the overwhelming flavor of orange pushups reinforced my conviction to continue to avoid infusions like the plague!
