Discussion Contest: Smoke with Your Heroes?

Discussion Contest: Smoke with Your Heroes?

Happy Thursday, folks!

Last week, I had the incredible opportunity to shake hands and smoke cigars with some of my Heroes. Hopefully everyone had a chance to watch the video with some Q&A from Andrew and see the Small Batch guys briefly at the end.

And, it was also really neat being able to meet some local Californians that stopped by!  It’s a really neat experience meeting someone that you’ve known for years but never met face-to-face.

As cool of an experience as it was, I started wondering who it is that you would want to sit down and burn a couple cigars with.

Who would you like to share a cigar with, and what would it be?

Login and comment on this post for a chance to win a Small Batch gift card this weekend!

Since I’m late to posting the contest this week, your comment could be worth a $35 gift card on Sunday instead of the usual $25.

And maybe you’ve already met all of your heroes – rejecting the advice of Allan Carr. In that case, who did you meet and what did you do?

Or, is your personal Hero someone that you can’t smoke cigars with?  That’s ok too, we’d just love to hear your thoughts however it works out.

  • Who is on your bucket list to smoke a cigar with?
  • Which cigars would you smoke?
  • What’s on the drink menu?
  • Is there someone that you'd like to introduce him/her to?

One piece of advice: don’t forget to take pictures!  I was so busy soaking up the experience last week that I forgot to document the entire thing with loads of pictures!  It’s probably for the best, though, since all those handsome faces and the crazy cigars / pairings we consumed might have broken social media.

Cheers to a great rest of your week!

Man, I have a few.
The owner, and head bartender, at Smugglers Cove in San Francisco.  I had the joy of meeting him and talking cocktails for many hours. I feel a strong Dunbarton cigar will offset the inherit sweetness of Tiki cocktails. My lady and I both enjoyed our time and would happily repeat.
2nd? As "lame" as this may sound to some.  Andrew at Smallbatch!! With how often I've emailed him and enjoyed his recommendations or COTM he sets up, would love to enjoy a cigar and drink with him.
Cigar would be a Sobremesa Brûlée or Late Hour by Davidoff with a Irish Coffee.
Definently introduce my lady so she knows who I keep throwing money at hahaha.

Lastly would be anyone from the Fuente family. Would adore having a traditional Daiquiri or tequila based cocktail while enjoying a 8-5-8. My lady would have to be there as well

I’ll have to take the fantasy route and go with the late Charles Spurgeon. We’d probably have his rumored go-to: a La Legitimidad by the now-defunct Cuban cigar maker F. P Del Rio y Ca.

Gotta say Dave West, Moocow Rich, and Canadian Sean.
Known em all through Instagram and CigarNoise but have yet to herf in person.  When it happens, we'll have to get a keg in the morning and herf til it's gone.  Since it'll be an all-day event I'd suggest smoking through the alphabet: Atabey, Byron, Cavalier, all the way through Zino.

I’d love to have a cigar (preferably multiples) with somebody like Steve Saka or Skip Martin Somebody who wasn’t born into tobacco but knows so damn much about it. Plus they seem like a trip. Id love to smoke through some of their portfolios with them, and throw in some other brands that they love outside of their own, and just listen to them talk tobacco.

My dad was my hero and he only smoked cigars on vacation and on the 4th of July.  In which they had a dual role of cigar and firecracker punk. He passed away before my cigar obsession. Even though I’m a cigar snob now-my father and I would smoke Antonio Y Cleopatra on the of July. I believe that was my starting block. He was a Pilot, Engineer, and volunteer firefighter.  If only I could have shared a Viaje, Tatuaje, My Father, or a Warped with him.

If he were still alive I would love to have a smoke with Alejandro Robaina sitting on his farm, smoking something he just rolled up for us. Second pick would be Jose Padron. Both of these gentleman have had a monstrous influence in tobacco and cigars and would be a pleasure to smoke with.

I would love to smoke a cigar with Archie Bunker!

I'd also love to be able to smoke a cigar with my late grandfather who is the reason I got into cigars but not til long after he passed.

Winston Churchill.  Can't imagine a more interesting person to smoke and drink with.  However, it could be a problem keeping up with his intake.

Arnold Schwarzenegger would be cool to smoke with.

I'd love to smoke with one person in the industry like Nick Melillo and one person that is not like Katman and learn more about cigars and how to enjoy even more, while having a fun conversation.

The first cigar I smoked was with some buddies I no longer keep in touch with. We were all around the age of 18 and all best friends. I remember the cigar was a Romeo y Juliette. We didn’t know anything about cigars or life. We were just hanging out with no worries. As life happens and we aged we lost touch. If I could smoke a cigar with anyone now it would be with all of my old buddies one last time to catch up. What we smoke wouldn’t be important as it wasn’t way back then.

Congrats Kyle!  And many thanks to everyone else for joining the conversation!
