This weekend, I want to talk about a cigar that’s been on my mind constantly for the last few weks: Proprietary Cigar Company’s Jason~Dumont Noir, a Small Batch exclusive size blended by the one and only Kyle Gellis.

After the initial light, my first impressions of the Noir are of creamy milk chocolate, nougat, cedar, and baking spices. The cocoa and nougat always remind me of a Milky Way at first before other flavors get layered in. Hints of dark roasted coffee beans rounds out my first couple of minutes.
Jason~Dumont is almost like seeing a family member of someone you know. It’s equal parts reminiscent of previous Warped releases while also feeling decidedly new and exciting. I’m sure you can think of other Kyle Gellis blends that were heavy on the milk chocolate as well – yet this one shines in the retro hale in a way that I don’t remember. It’s very easy on the nose, forming one of the gentlest and most satisfying retros that I can remember in a while.
Soft notes of pepper eventually enter the profile, but it isn’t a leading character. It’s enough to contrast the sweeter characteristics, but mild enough that you may not notice it unless you’re looking for it.

Past the first inch, warm Christmas spices (hints of nutmeg and cinnamon) join the party along with the previously mentioned chocolate sensation continuing to dominate the profile. This cigar was released at the perfect time of year in my humble opinion – it’s everything I associate with end of the year festivities. Also, who isn’t a sucker for chocolate any time of the year?
Pretty sure I’ve been straight retro haling this entire cigar so far, and I can’t help but shake a honey-like impression. Also picking up a leathery sensation as well the longer this ash holds. I know from experience that as soon as I drop this ash, however, I’ll be tasting something more akin to chocolate covered peanuts.

The handful of Jason~Dumonts that I’ve smoked to date don’t seem to feature multiple flavor transitions, and I don’t think I’d have it any other way. This blend always grabs hold of my attention from the first puff and keeps it until the very end. It’s charming, elegant, and in my personal opinion a work of art that I love setting ablaze.
I think I’ll take my leave here and continue to enjoy the rest of this Noir in solitude – another homerun from Kyle Gellis!
Tell Us! If you’ve also smoked Noir, what were your thoughts?
Jason~Dumont Suggestions
If you haven’t tried our latest Small Batch exclusive yet, I can’t implore you to give it a go strongly enough. It checks all the boxes: Kyle Gellis, El Titan de Bronze, maduro wrapper. I mean – that’s literally my entire bingo card.
Now, if you want to be proper about it, I’d imagine you would want to pair this cigar with Proprietary Red Wine since it shares the Proprietary label. Myself, I found this an incredible cigar with everything from Coke Zero to espresso to Glenmorangie Lasanta to a Coffee Porter. I’d encourage anyone reading this to try different pairings as I believe this is a dynamic cigar suitable for a multitude of experiences.

You are right, it's not a transitional blend, and agree that I don't think you want it to be.
Again, this is excellent cigar.
Thanks Small Batch!
