Crowned Heads and Montecristo Ciudad de Musica Review

CIUDAD DE MUSICA REVIEW – CALIFORNIA

Summary:  The draw is a bit on the tight side.  Starting off with bran cereal and cologne.  An inch down and this stick is vapid except for some cinnamon.  Floral notes are trying to resuscitate my hopes and dreams.

Some vegetal notes in the second third.  Tortilla chips and flowers.  I feel like I'm trying to cut into a raw flavor potato with a spoon right now.  Hopefully the final third brings something spectacular.

Melted vanilla ice cream at the end.  Not my cup of tea.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  Flossing.

Pairing Suggestion:  Alcoholic Milkshake.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  Single.

Blind Cigar Reviews at Small Batch: Ciudad de Musica

CIUDAD DE MUSICA REVIEW – WISCONSIN

Summary:  This cigar brought piles of dark, dark flavors to the table. Brown sugar, earth, spice, mushroom, rye bread, molasses, cinnamon, peanut, and coffee kept things on the dark & bitter end of the spectrum.

The burn needed a decent amount of attention, and the draw was on the looser side.

If you were to add just a bit of something that wasn't quite so dark and heavy to this blend, I'd enjoy it more. There was just too much on the earthy, coffee, molasses portion of the flavor wheel for my taste.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  If you prefer the Sith to the Jedi, this cigar has a nice dark side for you.

Pairing Suggestion:  Dr. Pepper.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  Single.

CIUDAD DE MUSICA REVIEW – OREGON

Summary:  This little corona-sized gem is medium brown and has a rough look to the wrapper, but it doesn’t look poorly constructed at all. The cold draw is maybe just a little loose but I’m getting a lot of barnyard flavor and kind of a floral soapy taste as well.   It sounds less impressive than it really is.

Initial flavors consist of bitter coffee, baking chocolate, dry leather, and charred toast - all topped off with a mild black pepper spice.

By the midway point things have become less complicated but no less enjoyable.  Sweet cedar commands the profile and is finished off with a little bit of orange zest and what I’m going to call nutmeg.  It’s also worth noting that I am at the halfway point of the cigar and the ash is still holding solid and hasn’t dropped a single flake.

By the end of the final third the flavors really haven’t transitioned at all from the middle of the cigar, but they are still very good.  That is the only factor that will affect my purchase recommendation.

If You Like That, You Might Like This:  That favorite meal that mom cooked on Sunday.

Pairing Suggestion:  Iced tea or a nice hoppy IPA.

Purchase Recommendation to a Friend:  5 Pack.

Fascinatingly negative reviews.  I absolutely love this cigar.
