AXIS MUNDI REVIEW – CALIFORNIA
Summary: This stick looks like the cigar version of a Scooby Snack. Beginning with walnut pancakes. An inch or two down, it’s developing a dirtier, more rustic profile.
The second third sees the faintest hint of Gushers candy sweetness mixing in with the earthiness. No other changes thus far.
I had to relight it right at the onset of the final third. A hint of sage closes this stick out with some class.
If You Like That, You Might Like This: Choppin’ wood.
Pairing Suggestion: Espresso Martini.
Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Fiver.
AXIS MUNDI REVIEW – WISCONSIN
Summary: Overall, this cigar brought a lot of very good, dark, earth-and-friends flavor combinations and was well-balanced. It lost some points with me for a loose draw, some odd burning, and dryness.
Flavor-wise, there was a lot of oak, chocolate, and earth. I tasted a moderate amount of pepper, leather, and brown sugar. There were occasional notes of raisin, cherry, and gingerbread. The flavors all melded well together, and each puff had a nice amount of depth and variation in what I tasted.
If You Like That, You Might Like This: A nice darker-flavored smoke with some complexity and nuance to it.
Pairing Suggestion: Root beer.
Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Fiver.
AXIS MUNDI REVIEW – OREGON
Summary: This Corona sized, dark brown cigar has me drooling at the sight of the wrapper and the fact that this is my favorite vitola in many cigars. The cold draw is a nice resistance and basically just tastes like natural tobacco.
Lots of leather, dark coffee, and dried dark fruits begin the profile. The retrohale is a nice mix of creamy coffee and pepper spices, finishing with a slightly bitter
Espresso, dark dried fruit with some sweetness emerge in the middle of the smoke with just a hint of cocoa. There’s enough pepper in the retro hale to remind you that you’re smoking a cigar and not eating a treat. It has a really good mix of flavors midway thru.
The last third finds tobacco notes picking up a bit with cocoa, oak and coffee notes. I’d swear I taste some dark cherry off and on too which is just great! I’m encountering a slightly erratic burn in the final third. Up until now I’ve had nothing but a perfect burn line.
If You Like That, You Might Like This: If you like this then you probably like dark, rich confectionary treats!
Pairing Suggestion: Pair this with a nice vanilla porter.
Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Box purchase.
