LA COALICIÓN REVIEW – CALIFORNIA
Summary: Half of the cap came off when I turned it in my mouth while lighting, but at least the wrapper remained intact. Smoke billows from this stick and gives me oak, white pepper, and coffee. I always love sticks with a lot of contrast between ash and wrapper hue. Umami.
Floral notes join the party in the second third and I'm hoping some sweetness follows. Mocha. Smoke output is still set to INSANE and I'm about it.
Final third and this cigar has required zero maintenance. This has been a solid smoke that I think would really be set off when paired with something sweet.
If You Like That, You Might Like This: Large, natural fireplaces.
Pairing Suggestion: Whiskey sour.
Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Fiver.
LA COALICIÓN REVIEW – WISCONSIN
Summary: Immediately, this cigar greeted me with an interesting maple syrup and oak combo that I enjoyed. The maple syrup quickly died out to be replaced with hay, sourness, spice near the front of the mouth, mineral, earth, and a distinct copper taste that remained throughout. As the cigar moved along with a wavy-but-steady burn, it got creamier and showed hints of chocolate. Those hints were a nice addition to the profile, but they were fleeting. The retro hale was surprisingly creamy compared to the flavors on my tongue.
The draw was on the looser side. It gave off voluminous smoke. The burn didn't need attention, but occasionally got a bit off. It fixed itself each time.
If You Like That, You Might Like This: Finding a lucky penny on the ground... and giving it a good lick.
Pairing Suggestion: Bourbon.
Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Single.
LA COALICIÓN REVIEW – OREGON
Summary: Wrapper scents of fermented raisin, barnyard and dark toast have me chomping at the bit to fire this one up!
Immediately my palate is hit with deep coffee notes, mild baking spice, mild tobacco, leather...it’s really smooth.
Further into the stick, things are even nicer. Creamy notes of leather, coffee and roasted nuts abound. The smoke production is ridiculous on this thing and the burn line is perfect. On retro hale, cinnamon and dark toast are lightly covered with a mild floral note and just a hint of heat.
Moving towards the finish and this cigar continues to perform. Tons of smoke, a razor-sharp burn line and bold flavors of charred meat, oak, strong coffee and spices I’d imagine in a good dry rub for beef.
If You Like That, You Might Like This: 75 minutes of uninterrupted goodness.
Pairing Suggestion: A slightly cold stout.
Purchase Recommendation to a Friend: Box.
